Green Building Materials and Energy Saving Features

· Low-E performance tilt out double pane, double hung, argon filled insulated windows

· ENERGY STAR appliances

· Two zone high performance central gas furnaces and Puron electric Air Conditioning systems.  All ductwork taped and sealed with Mastic to provide energy savings and extra comfort

· Demilac foam, a semi-rigid open cell foam insulation is a green building product based in renewable natural resources. This product creates a more energy-efficient home by expanding to seal cracks, gaps and voids in attics, walls and ceilings. It is sprayed:

o Above the garage ceiling for temperature consistency in the bedroom above the garage.

o In basement band boards and joist ends

o In all overhang floor projections to an R-30 rating for draft free zone

· Re-circulating pump attached to hot water heater for fast hot water supply to second floor

· Paints, caulks and glues with low or no volatile organic compounds (VOCs)

· Low VOC water based floor stain

Green building materials such as OSB, manufactured from faster growing smaller trees, which meets the same performance standards as plywood but doesn't cut or warp as easily

· I joists manufactured from faster growing smaller trees stronger and straighter than 2 x 12s

· Formaldehyde free insulation

· Cellulose insulation in the attic which is an environmentally preferable product due to its recycled content and potentially higher energy and acoustic performance

· Anti-air infiltration package including caulking, foam and insulation chinking to minimize drafts from outside air

· Insulated garage doors

· Use of exterior materials (stone, hardiplank and concrete) that absorb heat and maintain indoor temperatures
